Quality Used Engines (AKA: Southwest Engines, SW Engines, Quality Used Transmissions, Engine Shopper LLC, Engine and Transmission World, LLC, ETW, Engine Last Industries Inc (Warranty Company), Got Engines, GotEngines.com) 210 complaints closed with BBB in last 3 years | 42 closed in last 12 months

STAY AWAY! FAR, FAR AWAY!!

Just took these guys to small claims court yesterday and guess who didn't show up?! We purchased a used engine. Once the purchase was finalized, they sent the VIN # with the mileage (45,000). The engine was delivered directly to a service shop.

They installed it and it didn't work. Started communicating with Dale @ QUE. He said we didn't have a certified mechanic do the work and they did something to it because all engines are checked before they leave the warehouse. After a lot of back and forth, we noticed the VIN # on the engine didn't match the invoice VIN #.

After mentioning this to Dale, he stopped communicating with us. We did a carfax report on the engine we received, it had 162,000 miles on it. Because of the stop in communication we filed the small claims paperwork. We're at a loss of $6,200 for the engine, install & removal and the vehicle is still not in working order.

These guys are crooks and with all the complaints I found on the internet (BBB, Ripoff Report, etc.) I can't believe they are still in business.

I guess that's why they have 20 different names.

Reason of review: All of the above. They suck!.

Monetary Loss: $6200.

Preferred solution: Full refund.

SWEngines Cons: Horrible service, Theives.

Location: Saint Paul, Minnesota

I purchased a motor with an advertised milage of 59k, took 5 days for James to get me the donor Vin. After running a carfax it had 132k miles.

James simply hung up on me when asking about this. CROOKS.

If ever I had to perform an engine swap on any vehicle in my ownership and money was a factor, Toyota truck engines would be the way to go, in particular the 22Re that was in the Toyota truck, and is probably one of the most reliable 4 cylinder engines in the world, or the 2rZ-Fe/3rZ-Fe that both replaced the 22Re when the truck became the Tacoma. for for full sized trucks, diesels will do.
